Learn a mix of classics and fun arrangements.
2017 will star Beethoven with particular focus on the glorious slow movement from his 7th Symphony and the thrilling scherzo from his 3rd. Develop the playing techniques required of this master composer and other great works, such as Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and Percy Grainger's Mock Morris.
Tackle the terrific grooves and syncopation of Jazz Rhythmico by Mosier and explore the beauty of legato playing in A Quiet Music, The Tell Tale Heart and Dramatic Essay, all while making new friends.

Meet your Conductor

Dale Brown - Academy Strings
Dale Brown began her orchestral career at the age of 12, attending Saturday morning rehearsals in youth orchestras for a further 8 years.
She has a B.Mus(Hons) in cello performance from the University of Western Australia and a Post Graduate Diploma in Performance from the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music. Dale was a member of AYO and a string finalist in the Young Performer of the Year, playing Dvoraks Cello Concerto with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
She has held positions with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. She has also worked in Sydney with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
She has also done freelance work including a lengthy session of Les Miserable, film and jingle work.
Recently retired from orchestral playing , Dale now enjoys engaging with young players through extensive cello teaching and youth orchestra conducting.
Audition Requirements
All players must audition for a position in the ensemble.
Your audition will include two orchestral excerpts (provided by TYO) and a short, prepared work piece of your own choice (accompaniment is neither necessary nor permitted).
The audition panel may also request some technical work and sight-reading, appropriate to the AMEB standard of the ensemble.
