Our Supporters

The TYO relies on a diverse funding mix including players fees, donations, business sponsorships, in-kind support from our community based partners, and government grants for specific projects.  The TYO does not receive government support for its administration and weekly rehearsal programs.

Please consider supporting the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra, enabling us to inspire more young Tasmanian musicians with amazing experiences.

Meet some of our wonderful supporters.

Tasmanian Government

TYO is reaching new heights and offering even greater access to high quality music education through the support of the Tasmanian Government. TYO receives support from the Department of Education and through the Minister for the Arts.

This support enables us to deliver our programs, offer a range of bursary options, including fee and travel assistance, and we'll soon be expanding those programs across the state in the near future.

Our 2018 Community Concert Series is also made possible by the Australian Government's Regional Arts Fund, which supports the arts in regional and remote Australia.

Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra

Each year the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra supports the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra with our highlight event of the year for our most experienced players - the TSO Big Rehearsal.  The TSO Big Rehearsal is a full day rehearsal led by led by an internationally acclaimed conductor.  Each TYO player buddies up with a TSO player for the ultimate orchestral experience.  With over 90 players on stage the two orchestras work together for the day, having a wonderful time, creating a memorable learning experience for the TYO players.  Thank you TSO for this terrific support!

The Hutchins School

The Tasmanian Youth Orchestra is grateful for the valuable support provided by The Hutchins School.  Each week the TYO rehearses at Dudley Clark Performing Arts Centre, a wonderful purpose built facility that is provided free of charge by The Hutchins School to the TYO.  This support is critical to keeping our player fees low and our musicians thriving.

CutCommon

CutCommon is the brainchild of TYO alumna, Stephanie Eslake. Their generous in-kind marketing support and unwavering advocacy is enormously appreciated.

The Friends' School

The Friends' School generously provides the TYO with pro-bono use of the Farrall Centre for our Hobart concerts.  This beautiful centre provides the perfect concert venue with wonderful acoustics in a very comfortable and professional setting.

Rob Cossom

TYO Alumnus and Percussionist of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Robert Cossom has generously donated a hand-crafted snare drum for the benefit of TYO musicians. In 2017, Robert also mentored our players and joined us as soloist.

University of Tasmania Conservatorium of Music

TYO collaborates with the UTAS School of Creative Arts (Music) for many rewarding musical opportunities. We greatly appreciate their support through performance opportunities and hope you'll join us at the Stanley Burbury Auditorium in May and November!

Regional Arts Fund

The Tasmanian Youth Orchestra is able to perform our free community concerts thanks to the generous support of the Australian Government through the Regional Arts Fund.
