Projects and Ensembles 2012
To accommodate the growing numbers of participants, in 2012 there will be several new weekly groups, including a string orchestra based in Launceston.
Special Projects: intensive programs for statewide participation
TYO Camerata Baroque Strings Summer Season Jan 29-Feb 5 2012
Directed by the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra's Ben Dollman, period performance workshops based in the North of the State will be followed by a Tasmanian Tour.
TYO Statewide Concert July 29 2012
Players from around the state come together to perform in Hobart.
Woodwind Quintet Program
There will be 5 student woodwind quintets formed, including one based in Launceston, and one consisting of students in school years 7/8 2012.
Through the year these ensembles will receive tutoring, workshops and performance opportunities with leading professional wind players.
Various woodwind quintet students will also join with several of the string orchestras for different projects through the year.
Elanee Ensemble Viola/Bass Residency
Selected violists and double bass players undergo an intensive course with Elanee Ensemble. All viola and bass applicants are automatically considered for this program.
Northern Tasmanian Weekly Programs
For students in school year 6 to year 9 2012.
Conductor Daniel Wahl
This new weekly ensemble will run on a Sunday afternoon to allow students from all over the north of the state to participate.
Details to be released in May.
Southern Tasmanian Weekly Programs
Semester 1 Conductor Jeremy Williams
This new ensemble will run on weekends during University Semester to allow particpation of more tertiary level students.
In semester 1 it will operate as a String Orchestra. Semester 2 TBA
Conductor Simon Reade
This ensemble is a full symphony orchestra with strings, wind, brass and percussion.
