What inspired much of Czech composer Antonín Dvořák’s music, in particular his Symphony No. 9?

Dvořák (1841- 1904) wrote this piece while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America during his visit to the United States. His interest in Native American music greatly influenced this Symphony and is commonly known as New World Symphony. During his time in the United States, Dvořák wrote his String Quartet in F major, commonly known as the American Quartet, which also features the influence of American Folk music.
