Who was the composer of The Lark Ascending?
This piece was written by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1956). The music of Vaughan Williams has been described as typically English. He was a collector of English folk songs and carols and incorporated some of the melodies of these into his own composition, such as Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and Fantasia on Greensleeves. The Lark Ascending was inspired by poem of the same name by English poet George Meredith.
