Support Us

TYO relies on a diverse funding mix including players fees, donations, business sponsorships, in-kind support from our community based partners, and government grants for specific projects. Please consider donating to TYO, enabling us to inspire more young Tasmanian musicians with amazing experiences.

Your donation will ensure young Tasmanian musicians and singers can continue to access our programs throughout 2020 and beyond. TYO believes strongly that fees, while essential to our ability to deliver programs of exceptional quality, should not be a barrier to participation. As such, we offer significant financial assistance to many of our participants.

Your donation will also ensure also that we can continue to provide employment opportunities for the outstanding Tasmanian professionals who work with TYO as tutors, conductors and mentors. Many – in common with arts professionals everywhere – have been disproportionately affected in 2020 by COVID-19 impacts. If you can assist with any level of donation, we would be most grateful for your support. Thank you.

Fund a Chair

Like TYO alumnus William Lane, you can support an individual musician who is experiencing financial difficulty. A contribution of $1,000 will provide a bursary for their program fees and additional support through specialist mentoring. Your generosity will be acknowledged in concert programs and our annual report, and you're welcome to do so anonymously.

Volunteers are always needed for a range of roles with TYO. These include musical tuition, library assistance, camp parents, concert front-of-house staff, stage management, concert production, touring assistants, fundraising, marketing and publicity volunteers.

To volunteer, please contact Please note that if you wish to volunteer you will need current Working with Vulnerable People registration.

The TYO is looking for sponsorship for player bursaries, future touring, and purchase of instruments and music. If you would like to sponsor our players or activities, please contact

Make a bequest

A bequest establishes an enduring legacy that will provide for future generations of young Tasmanian musicians. If you are considering supporting TYO through a bequest, please see the detailed bequests information here.

Why your support matters

In 2017 we had the pleasure of working with Guest Conductor, Elena Schwarz, the Assistant Conductor of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. Hear her own observations on working with TYO and the value of such opportunities for our young musicians.
