The Tasmanian Youth Orchestra connects young Tasmanians to some of the best musicians in Australia, providing ensemble performing experiences and inspirational leadership journeys. Our vision is to inspire, nurture and develop young Tasmanians, to perform the very best they can and enjoy a lifelong love of music.

TYO provides pathways for those new to ensemble music, through to experienced musicians studying at the Conservatorium of Music. Our youngest participants are 7 and we accept all ages up to 25 years old. We offer training through orchestras, choirs, and string, percussion and wind ensembles. In 2019 we launched a new program of ensemble workshops catered specifically for the North and North West regions of Tasmania.

Founded in 1965, the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra is one of the oldest state youth orchestras in Australia. Our alumni have gone on to develop professional and community music careers and we are passionate about fostering the next generation of musicians and audiences.
