TYO's COVIDSafe Protocols

While we're very fortunate with the current Tasmanian COVID situation, TYO remains committed to robust COVIDSafe protocols to ensure that we're doing everything we can to minimise risk. We cannot eliminate risk entirely, but we all need to do our part to keep everyone involved with TYO (conductors, tutors, participants and parents/guardians) as safe as possible.

This means everyone involved with TYO needs to comply with the TYO COVIDSafe protocols and processes. These are based on Public Health guidance and they really are non-negotiable.

Please don't hesitate to ask if you are unsure on something: we're happy to clarify.

The following protocols apply predominantly to parents, players and tutors involved directly with TYO rehearsals and performances. If you're coming to a TYO concert, please check your ticket for specific COVIDSafe protocols that apply to that event.

Not well? Don't play

  1. If you or a family member/close contact have been asked to self-isolate, please DO NOT attend any TYO rehearsals or events.

  2. If you or a family member/close contact are sick with possible coronavirus symptoms, please DO NOT attend rehearsal. As per Public Health guidance, these symptoms may include "fever (or signs of fever, including chills or night sweats), runny nose, cough, sore/itchy throat, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell."

  3. If a TYO musician is displaying significant symptoms of illness in a rehearsal or at an event, they will be escorted discreetly from the room and their parents/guardians called to pick them up. TYO conductors and staff will use common sense and discretion: a single sneeze or cough is not grounds for removal from rehearsal; however, if we notice a child is sweating or if they are coughing regularly or seem short of breath, we will err on the side of caution. Please note that if you or your child experiences regular allergy or asthma symptoms, these should be recorded on TYO medical notes.

  4. Personal snacks may be consumed during breaks but food and drink is NOT to be shared. Sadly, shared morning teas are off the menu for now.

Sanitise!

  1. Please sanitise hands on entering and exiting any TYO venues. Sanitiser is freely available at all TYO venues and events.

  2. Bathrooms are available for hand-washing for anyone who cannot use sanitiser.

Masks

  1. Anyone involved with TYO or attending a TYO event is very welcome to wear a mask if they wish to do so.

  2. Masks are, however, not compulsory for TYO rehearsals and events and TYO does not provide masks to participants.

Rehearsals and events: extra processes

  1. TYO will provide all wind and brass players with floor pads to place on the floor at their feet. Use of these pads is compulsory. Players are to ensure they bin their own floor pad at the end of the rehearsal or event. Players, PLEASE wipe up any overspill yourself. Thank you.

  2. Flute players will be seated in a 'herringbone' configuration to limit droplet pathways. Flute players, please do not move your chairs from where we have placed them.

  3. TYO will be maintaining social distancing as best as practically possible within our rehearsal rooms and will strictly observe all room limit capacities according to current restrictions. If you are asked to increase your social distance, please comply promptly.
