Wendy has come to the TYO after a long career an orchestral French horn player. She was appointed Associate Principal French Horn of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra at the age of 21, before moving to Tasmania twenty years ago to take up the position of Principal French Horn with the Tasmanian Symphony orchestra. During this time, she performed several solo concertos with the TSO.
Wendy’s experience as a frequent visitor with orchestras around Australia and New Zealand, and as a chamber musician and teacher, is broad and diverse, and she brings this to the TYO family in her multi-faceted role as administrator, mentor and collaborator.
Wendy credits a combination of excellent teaching, wonderful professional role models, as well as positive experiences with the WA Youth Orchestra and the Australian Youth Orchestra, and brings this to her enthusiastic advocacy for orchestral education. She's so glad to have found a place where this breadth of experience can be put to good use in facilitating the many benefits and fostering a love of orchestral music in the next generation.
