Jess Wright

Tutor

Jessica Wright started violin at the age of six in country NSW and later in life fell in love with viola after a chance encounter once having moved to Tasmania for study. Jess studied violin at the UTAS Conservatorium of Music under Lucy Carrig and Susan Collins and graduated with honours.

Jess now teaches violin and viola individually and in classes at schools and through her studio. Jess also works with several different school ensembles either tutoring or directing. Jess loves teaching strings to all ages but is particularly passionate about teaching students in their foundational years- being involved in the early stages and helping set students up with the love of music and technical groundwork that will hopefully continue and provide a basis for a lifetime of musical enjoyment.

Jess has played in various ensembles on both violin and viola. These include The Macquarie Philharmonic, Discovery Ensemble and the Australian International Symphony Orchestra Institute (AISOI). Jess currently plays with the Hobart Chamber Orchestra and also loves playing in chamber groups.
