Sheng-Yuan Lynch

Repetiteur

Sheng-Yuan Lynch showed a great interest in piano and classical music from the tender age of three, learning the instrument by listening to recordings. In 2012, he began formal lessons with Shan Deng, Senior Lecturer in Classical Piano at the School of Creative Arts and Media (Music) at the University of Tasmania.

Graduating from The Hutchins School in 2023, he has excelled in his musical studies. Beginning with his Grade 6 exam, he passed his Australian Musical Examination Board (AMEB) AMusA and LMusA diplomas with the highest possible grades by the age of 12. He is currently undertaking his third year of Bachelor of Music at UTAS, majoring in classical piano and film composition.

Sheng-Yuan has been invited to perform in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and as far abroad as Beijing. Highlight appearances include being a guest pianist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Macquarie Symphony Orchestra, and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, as well as a performance alongside internationally renowned ballet superstar Roberto Bolle. Prestigious recognitions include the Elizabeth Murdoch Prize of the 2024 Great Romantics Competition, the runners-up for the 2022 Young Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition, and the 2018 TSO Rising Star.

Outside of classical, he plays keyboard for yacht rock band Baby Come Tack, and has worked in musical theatre productions since he was 13, with his most recent role being the assistant musical director and piano/conductor for Old Nick Theatre Company’s Midnight: the Cinderella Musical. Using music as a way to assist those in need, Sheng-Yuan has performed numerous charity concerts, helping donate a total of almost $200,000 to various organizations since he was 11. He was honoured with the 2021 City of Hobart Young Citizen of the Year in recognition of his philanthropic efforts.
